Yes it should give you a base to start with but be careful ask your tanning salon also what would be best for you and your skin type I would not recommend using any lotion or anything if you are fair you may burn and that is not fun………..
you dont want to go for ten minutes at first try starting with like 3-7 minutes and if you have fair skin just start with 3 and go maybe twice a week so that your skin can build up the calls that will die and become tan adn not burn.
i have really fair skin too.
when i first went i did 5 minutes, you have to get a base before you actually start to look darker.
then 7 minutes the next time. and i went every other day. and you keep increasing it by 2 minutes each time.
Go 10 times. Start out just 2 or 3 minutes in a low level bed, wait 4 or 5 days then go back. Keep inching up the time you spend in the bed (up to 10 minutes), & shorten the days in between.
As long as you wear eyewear, 10 times in a bed for shor periods of time won’t harm you.
never. very bad for you. skin cancer.. it’s worse for you than laying in the sun because the rays in a tanning bed are much stronger.. that’s why you get more tan in 10 minutes in a tanning bed than 10 minutes in the sun.. of course it’s different.
yeah just to get a base i would go like 4 times.. just make sure u start at a low number like 7 mintues then 10 then 15 then maybe the full 20 depending on the strength of the bed. but for ur info.. it is much worse in a bed b.c its only the bad rays bakin ur skin as to were if your in the sun there are both good and bad.
All the different types of beds have different lengths to go for. Like the one I go in has a maximum of 12 minutes and others go up to 20. It also depends on how new the bulbs are when deciding how long to go.
Your best bet is to talk to the people at the tanning bed to see what they recommend. You probably want to go for short periods of time more frequently and use a tanning lotion for the best results.
go whenever you want…. if you want to get wrinkles really young…its better to get a real tan in the sun than those tanning beds…they both arent good for your skin but those tanning beds are like the worst thing…so if u really want a tan then get a REAL tan, not a fake orangey one…
FORGeT about the tanning bed, there are tuns of lotions and creams out there that will give you the same result as you would if you were on the tanning bed!
Five times at ten minutes won’t get you much. Maybe five times at 10 10 15 15 15 20, with 3 days between tthe 10, 4 days between the 15, and 5 days before the 20. That might be better
i know you said that you didn’t want to hear about cancer, but it’s bad to be in a tanning booth OR the sun. you should AT LEAST wear sun screen. there is almost no difference in laying outside or laying in a tanning bed. so im just saying that think about the long term effects…because one day you’ll regret spending those tanning bed hours
since you are fair skin i would start off at 10 mins for a couple days or weeks (if thats what makes u comfortable) and work your way up to 15-20. Alot of the newer beds are more updated and work quicker so it doesnt take very long to get a tan. But 10 mins shouldnt be bad at all, If you feel you can handle more go up a few mins every week. I will say this its prolly not good to go everyday, maybe a couple days a week. You should have plenty time to get a tan before spring break! Goodluck!
i would say go once every two weeks
don’t go more than that… do you want to be an orange?!
no you just want to add a little pizazz to your skin..
notice that only people speaking out about tanning bed are coming on here
alas…. they do cause cancer tho…
get the spray.. it works immediately… you don’t even have to wait 5 minutes for the tan.. just make sure you spread evenly and QUICK!
Not only is it “bad” for you skin (cancer, etc.), it’s going to make you age a lot faster. No one wants to look old or worn. Check this site out about skin care and how you can improve your looks and quality of health in general.
Whatever you do, don’t tan too much, even at all if you can help it!
Achieving a little skin color prior to vacationing in the sunshine may be a good way of alleviating severe burn while away…But all in all using a good level sunblock will also be a good choice…many sunblocks protect the skin from the harmful damaging rays however they will still allow tanning of the skin…check it out…you may be surprised. Tanning beds ultimately leave a very fair skinned individual with some degree of skin sunburned…so I still offer you advice to take serious heed with your choice to utilize the tanning bed quick fix idea….Sunblocks work great…read the labels & see the ones which allow safe levels of gradual tanning of the skin…Any sun exposure offers each & every one of us the risks we are all well aware of… Happy spring break time~ stay safe & have friends that will watch your back~ do the same for your friends… Life is rough out there nowadays…Plzzz try hard to not be a statistic…Watch your drinks…NEVER leave them unattended…I am sure you are well aware of “WHY”…if not plzzzz contact me if you wish….I have daughters who have celebrated the Spring Break scene many times…thank God safely~ Take care~
You really shouldn’t – especially if you have fair or pale skin.
There is no calculation of how many minutes will either tan or burn you because its all very specific to your body type. If you aren’t familiar with tanning, you need to be very careful about how much you expose yourself to the sun. You could easily be burned, and depending on your skin, body, and heredity – you could be more susceptible to skin cancer than someone else.
Beginner tanners need to be extremely careful, and need to approach tanning very slowly and cautiously. Its tough going to a tanning salon and not getting fast results, but it is far better to be safe than sorry. A bad burn could leave you injured for weeks, and very possibly require medical attention.
Ultimately, for the benefit of your own personal health, be comfortable and proud of the body you were born with. Don’t expose yourself to harmful things for appearance sake.
OMG! You are aware of the cancer dangers and you still want to get a tan from a tanning bed? Are you insane? If you really must, at the tanning place I’m sure they can tell you what the right amount of tanning is.
don’t go to the tanning bed, or get a tan outside. use self-tanning cream, a professional airbrush/spray self-tanning, or professional self-tanning. it works and it’s harmless.
i understand you wanna look all tan before spring break but there are other ways than going in a tanning bed you could use lotions or spray on but there is this wicked good lotion i use called dove energy glow (medium skin tones) it works wonders!

I’ve just been reading that just one session on a sunbed can give you cancer! Buy a good fake tan – there are plenty of good ones for sale.
