The kind of tanning lotions that you will find at a store are meant to be used outside. You can’t use outside lotions in a tanning bed – the oils block out the bed’s rays and it is then impossible to get a tan.
At the tanning salon they have many kinds of lotions and junk. The staff there will try to sell it to you, because they get commission for the lotions they sell. The lotions there are specialy made for use in tanning beds. I am not sure what kind works best, but the staff will help you find one that is right for you. They usually have samples that you can buy for like $3, that way you can see if you like it before you buy an expensive bottle.
